Dr. Lani Graham, family practice physician, public health expert, and former head of the Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention speaks to the importance  of paid safe days for domestic violence circumstances, and sick days to prevent the spread of disease. “As a physician, I am used to give advice on how to stay healthy.”  Now, it’s time for the Maine  Legislature to take action to allow everyone to follow this advice. The state’s public health measures are undercut by the lack of a paid sick days standard….as chief health officer for Maine, I responded to public health outbreaks as a result of contagion spread in nursing homes…and this will be mitigated by a public health standard for everyone.
