Over…for now.

See All: Paid sick days

30 Mar 2010

L.D. 1665, a bill that would have provided paid sick days for Maine workers, is over. Done. Deadsville… For now.

While this is a time of extreme disappointment for those who care about basic workplace protections for everyone, it is also a time of rare opportunity.

Yes, opportunity.

When legislators leave the State House this week or next, those running for election will be hitting the campaign trail, knocking on doors, marching in parades, attending events, and covering the busy summer fair schedule.

Let’s take this opportunity to ask candidates where they stand on the issues we care about … including paid sick days.

And, stay tuned, because over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be announcing our bold new plan of candidate education and voter engagement. A new plan to put more muscle in our fight for Maine’s working women and the families they support.

But, today we’ve got a simple action for you to take. It’s a thank you message to the three champions of the Labor Committee who supported L.D. 1665, and to the original sponsors of the bill.

You can do all of that with one click – right here.

Thanks for all of your work on this effort. And, remember, that although it’s over … for now, we’ll keep working for Maine people. And, expecting our lawmakers to do the same.
