The Healthy Families Act – Paid Sick Days on the Federal Level!

So I am sure by now you know about L.D. 1665, a bill before the Maine State Legislature that wold provide Paid Sick Days for all Maine Workers, but did you know that there is a paid sick days bill on the federal level?  The Healthy Families Act or H.R. 2460 would provide all employees at workplaces with 15 or more employees the ability to earn paid sick and safe days (7 days for those who work full-time, less for those who work fewer hours) to care for themselves or their family members.

This important legislation needs bi-partisan support to see the light of day.

Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis argued that the states are the “laboratories of democracy.” Well then, why not pass L.D. 1665 in Maine in the next few weeks and set a precedent for the nation?

So, in light of this final week before the work session on L.D. 1665, urge your state Representative and Senator to support this important legislation.
