It’s Time to Mobilize: Trans People Belong

Every student should have the freedom to be themselves, to be safe, and to feel respected at school. But several bills have been submitted in the Maine Legislature that would roll back civil rights, ban transgender girls from participating on school sports teams, and open the door to harassment, bullying and abuse of ALL girls.

These bills have their public hearing in the Judiciary Committee on Thursday, May 8th.

We need as many Mainers as possible to testify AGAINST these harmful bills to help us protect the rights of trans Mainers!

Join us in pushing back against this harmful national political agenda and support Maine’s ability to protect the rights of all students on the playing field and beyond.

Public hearings are a key opportunity for lawmakers to hear from the public and relevant stakeholders about the pros and cons of proposed legislation.  Anyone can write/deliver testimony on any bill!

If you are interested in testifying on these bills, you can:

  1. Come in person to the Maine State House in Augusta to deliver live, spoken testimony

  2. Write and submit written testimony any time before the public hearing

  3. Deliver live, spoken testimony remotely on Zoom

Thank you for taking the time to take action against these harmful proposals! Please help us spread the word by forwarding this email to your friends and neighbors!

In solidarity,
